Will you be my Lobster?
A classic New England seafood choice is lobster, and the iconic preparation is as a lobster roll (we’ll debate hot buttered vs. cold mayo, but both are tasty).

Find your Perfect Lobster Roll
Our most recent lobster roll rendition was courtesy of a Highroller Lobster pop-up at Vitamin Sea Brewing. Enjoying a cult following, Highroller Lobster comes from Maine and is ever-Instagrammable with their unique aioli presentation and cute flags. We chose pineapple aioli and jalapeno aioli, both delicious. Even our son got in on the lobster (though we kept the beer for the adults), much to the amusement of our fellow picnic bench mates.

For my go-to hot buttered version of the lobster roll, Eventide of Boston – and originally Maine, they know their lobster up there – makes the best one around. Their Portland, Maine location is more fine-dining, while Boston is fast-casual by Fenway Park, home of the Red Sox baseball team.

Farther afield from our home is Ford’s Lobster in Noank, Connecticut, just outside Mystic. Drive or boat up to this waterfront spot for a whole page menu of lobster options, including a delicious classic roll. More adventurous (and pricy) is the “lobster bomb.”
To round out my recommendations, I’d be remiss not to mention the lobster tacos at Row 34 (which made an appearance at our wedding rehearsal dinner) and the lobster mac and cheese at The Fat Cat in Quincy, Massachusetts.
Needless to say, you can’t go wrong with a lobster dish in New England – and no trip to the upper East Coast USA should be without one.
